Camera measurements are estimates. They’re best in good light on textured, flat surfaces such as floors, walls and tabletops. iPhones with LiDAR can also place points on edges and objects. For anything you’re cutting or buying, double-check with a tape measure.

Tap + and choose From a Photo. Drag across the picture to draw a line, then type its length. If you know one size, like a door, save it as the scale reference and the other lines are estimated from it. Estimates are only reliable for flat things photographed straight on, and they’re marked with ≈.

Open Ruler and tap Fine-tune. Line up a bank card or a real ruler with the on-screen marks and save. The ruler switches between centimeters and inches.

Some phone cases and camera bumps tilt the phone slightly. Try it on a larger flat surface, or without the case.

Tap the group menu above your list to switch groups or create one, such as Home or a job site. New entries are added to the group you’re viewing. Long-press any entry to move it. Deleting a group keeps its measurements.

Open an entry and tap Share. A Measure Log file opens straight into the app for anyone who has it; a text summary works anywhere. You can also save measurement photos, with their lines, to your Photos.

Touch and hold your Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search for Measure Log. The small size gives quick Measure, Add and Photo buttons. The larger sizes also show sizes you pinned in the app.

Go to Settings & units in the ⋯ menu and export a CSV that opens in Numbers, Excel or Google Sheets.

Your log stays on your iPhone and isn’t synced to iCloud. Export a CSV, or share important entries, if you want a copy elsewhere.
